A Family Friendly Horniman Bandstand Wedding

Becky + Marc

Bride and groom laugh at Horniman bandstand weddingIt is time to share Becky and Marc’s super relaxed and family friendly Horniman Bandstand wedding.

Becky and Marc have two sons under the age of four.  They had talked about getting married for a while but couldn’t really decide how.  They knew they didn’t want a traditional wedding.   They wanted something relaxed, that reflected who they are and involved the kids as well.  Becky and Marc are friends of the lovely Nimali and Graham whose garden party wedding I photographed last year.  After seeing Nimali and Graham’s wedding photos, Becky and Marc felt inspired and started planning their own laid back, family friendly wedding.

I joined Becky and Marc and their two sons at their family home in Forest Hill where everyone was getting ready together.  Friends and families joined the couple at the flat and they all made their way together to the Horniman museum in a London red bus.  There was much excitement from the kids (and the adults) when the bus turned up – it doesn’t happen every day that a London Routemaster picks you up right outside your house.

Becky and Marc wanted to get married locally.  The bandstand at the Horniman Museum made for the perfect location.  The family have spent many happy days exploring this amazing museum and its grounds. The ceremony was lovely with lots of laughter and tears. And the bandstand is stunning. It has been fully restored in all its Victorian glory and the views of the surrounding area are breathtaking.

The ceremony was followed by a relaxed couple of hours of children running around and playing happily whilst the adults enjoyed a drink and a chat.

We then all moved on to the Dulwich Wood House for a delicious pub lunch.  The pub has a really large outside space which kept the children entertained.  And if that wasn’t enough, Becky and Marc had hired a brilliant magician who kept everyone, including myself, captivated.

Becky and Marc, it was so lovely to photograph your very relaxed and child friendly wedding day.  I wish you and your beautiful family a very happy future together.Mum getting ready for Horniman bandstand weddingFamily getting ready for Horniman bandstand wedding Bride who is a Mum is putting on make-up with help of son Bride with her two sonsBoy getting ready for Horniman bandstand wedding Groom helping son get dressed for Horniman bandstand weddingGuests arrive for wedding at the Horniman museumBride greets guests Kids play in bedroom before wedding at the Horniman museum Children in routemaster bus on way to wedding Black and white photograph of bride on Routemaster busBride and groom arrive for Horniman bandstand wedding Bride and groom before ceremony at Horniman museum Guests awaiting bride and groom at Horniman bandstand Wedding ceremony at Horniman bandstandBride cries during wedding ceremony at Horniman bandstand Guests watch wedding ceremony at Horniman bandstand Drinks reception after Horniman bandstand wedding Confetti at Horniman bandstand wedding Bride hugs her son at Horniman museum wedding Groom with guests and son at Horniman museum wedding Kids run inside pub for Dulwich pub weddingKids watch magician at Woodhouse in DulwichMagician performs at child friendly wedding in Dulwich Guests react to kids entertainer at Dulwich pub weddingBride and son at pub wedding in DulwichBride and groom at Dulwich Woodhouse
