“Wow Annelie – we absolutely love your photos and we will certainly treasure them forever and ever!”
~Annie + Matt
It is always exciting when I get to work at a fantastic wedding venue that I have never come across before. This was the case with the amazing Fawley Hill. This quirky venue in Henley-on-Thames is truly unique. Decorated with lots of colourful railway signs and relics, this restored Victorian railway station and museum boasts a merry-go-round, a life sized model of a rhino, peacocks and an old train.
It was a fantastic place for Annie and Matt’s wedding. Annie and Matt used this amazing backdrop to create a truly magical and fun day, which involved getting married on a train followed by vuvuzelas as entertainment for the guests, an ice cream machine for a simple yet popular dessert and lots of beautiful DIY details.
I met Annie and Matt at Gwen and Joe’s Stoke Newington wedding last year. They are part of a large and very lovely group of friends so it was great to see so many familiar faces.
Annie’s background is Chinese and she brought some Chinese wedding traditions into her big day. For part of the day, she wore an intricate Chinese wedding outfit, which I loved. There was a also a Chinese wedding tea ceremony where the bride and groom serve tea to their elder relatives to show their respect and gratitude. And the canapes and wedding breakfast were prepared by the amazing Smokin Lotus – a Chinese streetfood stall (and were utterly delicious).
Annie and Matt – it was so much fun being a part of your truly unique Fawley Hill wedding! May you have a long and happy future together and may all your dreams and wishes come true.
