Every time I see this photo, it puts a smile on my face.
I took this picture earlier this year at Mariko and Mark’s spring wedding at the wonderful Grey’s Inn. The cheeky flower girl was one of my favourite guests of the day. She was so excited to be there and took her job very seriously – whilst fitting in some fun and play.
One of the things I love about being a documentary-style photographer is that it gives me the chance to truly capture people’s personalities. A staged photograph of the bride and the flower girl would have a totally different feel and most likely produce some camera smiles rather than any genuine moments. Letting people live their day and enjoy it, not only creates a more fun and relaxed atmosphere on your wedding day but it also leads to photographs with real character that will make you smile in years to come.
