Documentary Wedding Photography – But what about the group shots?

I describe myself as a Documentary Wedding Photographer.  This means that I document the events of your wedding day as they happen – I observe rather than participate.  I don’t move things around, ask you to pose in a particular way, or repeat something just for the camera.

The exception to this are the group shots and the formal couple portraits (more on those later).  Most couples, even if they are having a very relaxed and informal wedding, want some group portraits, and of course, I’m more than happy to oblige.  As part of the pre-wedding consultation, we will have a chat about how many group portraits you would like, who should be in them, and how we best go about making sure that they don’t take up too much time so that everyone can get back to enjoying the day.
