I’m getting into the Christmas spirit and and thought this would be a good time to look back on Annie + Gareth’ fun, relaxed and magical Christmas wedding.
Annie and Gareth love Christmas and decided to make the most of the holiday period when everyone is off work and in the party spirit anyway, and got married between Christmas and New Year.
Annie’s parents put up a marquee in their garden. Annie and Gareth decorated it beautifully, with pretty fairy lights everywhere, cosy corners and, of course a Christmas tree. Annie is a big Harry Potter fan (favourite character: Professor McGonagall) and used this as an inspiration for the wedding decorations. Quotes from the books on beautiful cut wood formed table centre pieces, and there were potion-bottle-shaped fairy lights and a bottle of ‘Felix Felicis’ as a wedding favour for each of the guests.
The ceremony was in a pretty and historic country church – St James the Less in Dorney Reach. Annie’s parents surprised the happy couple by hiring an opera singer to join in with the hymns and sing a spine-tingling solo at the end of the ceremony. After that, Annie and Gareth kept up the Christmas spirit by serving mulled wine and mince pies outside the church before returning to the beautiful marquee.
The wedding reception was fun and relaxed, with long beer benches and street food served from stalls instead of a wedding breakfast. I also just loved the crazy dogs running around the place, sneaking in and out of the marquee and joining in with the celebrations.
Annie and Gareth – it’s almost been a year since your beautiful wedding. I hope it’s been a great one and that there are many more happy memories come. Have an amazing anniversary and a very happy Christmas!
