First of all – happy new year! I hope you all have a wonderful 2017 – filled with love, life and laughter.
2016 has been my busiest year yet as a wedding photographer. My little boy, Cosmo, is growing up. Well he’s only five, but he started school this year and has become much more independent generally. This means I have had more time to focus on my wedding photography. It’s been great fun! I have met so many nice people and have had the privilege to be a part of – and photograph – many wonderful moments.
The year started with Ari and Rowan’s small and beautiful London wedding. Thinking about it, I photographed quite a few very small and intimate weddings this year, sometimes with just a handful of people there. For example, Rachel and Ben decided to tie the knot with just their two children and parents present. It always feels like a real honour to be a part of such a small celebration.
I have had the pleasure to photograph lots of weddings where the bride and groom are parents, like Ana and John’s Farringdon wedding and Lyndsey and Sam’s wedding at Ridge Farm. And I love it! Photographing children is one of my favourite things and if they play a big part in the wedding, weddings are often more relaxed, informal (and chaotic).
Last year was also the year I photographed my first Humanist wedding. Katie and Matt got married under two oak trees and we all sung “Here comes the sun” – one of my favourite wedding moments of 2016. There was also Danni + Matt’s Jewish wedding, and Laura + Yiannis’ Greek wedding. I really enjoy experiencing different customs and traditions. And I photographed Annie + Deni’s wedding – my first gay wedding. It was lovely and very romantic.
2016 has been an exciting and diverse year. I can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for me!
