This is the second wedding reception at the West Reservoir Centre that I have had the pleasure to photograph. I really love this venue. The architecture is stunning – I have a thing for high ceilings. And it is set right on the edge of the reservoir (as the name suggests). The views over the water make this a pretty special London wedding venue.
Rachel and James are a lovely couple. They are warm, generous, kind and thoughtful – all of which was reflected in their wedding day.
They live just around the corner from me. I joined Rachel for the bridal preparations in her flat in Crouch End. It’s always nice to photograph a bride getting ready in her own home. Whilst it is often not as picturesque as a hotel room, it is usually filled with memories and every day objects that make it a home.
I travelled with Rachel, her sister and her Dad to the stunning Islington Town Hall, where Rachel and James tied the knot surrounded by their nearest and dearest.
After an emotional and sweet ceremony, we made our way to the West Reservoir Centre. A friend of Rachel and James’ had decorated the venue with balloon lanterns, fairy lights and wild flowers. The decorations were simple, yet beautiful and worked perfectly with the industrial backdrop of the venue. Rachel and James are very lucky to be surrounded by creative and talented friends – another friend had made their wedding cake.
Despite it being February, guests still spent a bit of time on the decking enjoying the views over the reservoir before sitting down for a buffet lunch. The speeches were witty, thoughtful and filled with emotions. All in all it was a wonderful day. I really enjoyed being a part of it and felt like I was surrounded by friends. Rachel and James, I wish you all the happiness in the world!
