Ana and Jon found me through a local Mums group on Facebook. They live just around the corner from me in Bounds Green and have two children, Austin and Elin, who are of similar age to my little one.
Ana is originally from Spain. Jon and Ana met 18 years ago when Ana first came to England. Jon is a chef and Ana was working as front of house catering. After spending almost two decades together, raising two beautiful children, buying and renovating a gorgeous family home, Ana and Jon felt that the time had come to tie the knot.
Ana and Jon kept things small and intimate to begin with – only close family joined them for the wedding ceremony at the beautiful Islington Town Hall. It was a lovely set-up with everyone sitting on comfy leather sofas, forming a circle around the happy couple.
Ana and Jon chose the eclectic and funky Bird of Smithfield in Farringdon for their wedding reception. Farringdon is nice and quiet at the weekends so it makes a great location for a London wedding. There are lots of interesting and historic buildings, including the meat market, which we used as a backdrop to some of the couple portraits.
Ana and Jon’s family joined them for a delicious and elaborate lunch. Jon is a chef so you can imagine that food played a big part in the wedding celebrations. There was a mediterranean theme to the food with parma ham, olives and manchego being served as appetizers. The sun was out and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. Looking at the food, the blue sky and hearing the Spanish voices around me, it almost felt like we were in Spain.
Later in the afternoon, Ana and Jon’s friends joined the celebrations. It was the perfect weather for admiring the views from the roof terrace and enjoying some Aperol Spritz. Aperol Spritz, by the way, has been my summer drink of choice since photographing this wedding.
If you enjoyed the photographs from this Farringdon wedding, take a look at some of the other London weddings I have photographed this year.
